What to do about First Communion Photographs?

In order to help you plan your child’s First Holy Communion I’ve put together a couple of pages of info on the blog:

First Holy Communion Photographs for 2014 gives details of the services we offer on the day of the Communion: Studio Sessions, Home Sessions and Pictures at the Church

First Holy Communion Packages 2014  has information about the print packages we’ve put together for First Communion Photographs.  These are available to all sessions that we shoot for First Communions and Confirmations.

We generally offer the same range of services to Confirmation Services – please call to check our availability on your date.

Hopefully these are useful but if you need any more information please do not hesitate to call – 021 4293714 or email rob@roblambphoto.com

First Communion and Confirmation Photographs 2013

We’re getting a steady flow of enquiries about Communions and Confirmations since we got back from the Christmas Hols: it’s the next big event this year for a lot of families and many are starting to plan getting the family together.

The most popular dates are starting to fill up and in particular we’re almost full for Saturday 18th May.

I’m very pleased to say that many bookings are coming from families who we worked with two or three years ago for their last Communion.  I always like to think the best testimonial is a client who comes back happily.

Don’t forget Confirmations as well: it marks the transition to the Senior Cycle and Confirmation Photos are more about a milestone in a young person’s life than the ‘big day’.

Lots done, more to do…

After a full recharge over the holidays it’s great to be back in the office looking forward to a good 2013 (even though it was hard getting everyone up and out this morning).

2012 was our best year yet and there’s still a few things that need to be tidied up after a very busy close running up to Christmas.

But we’re putting together plans for more great work this year.  That’s going to include more special sessions and promotions, ideas for getting more families involved in new ideas for great sessions that really connect with their identity as a family and produce images that they will treasure for years.

I also want to review our on-line presence an give it a bit of a re-fresh – so keep your eyes out changes here, on the main site and through Facebook.

I might also get a chance to post some more personal work – and to start with this from yesterday’s orienteering at Currabinny, thanks to Bishopstown Orienteering Club.  A good day enjoyed by all – I know these woods very well from doing so many sessions there over the years but we still found a few new spots.

Happy New Year

We’re back in action this week after an extended Christmas break last week. Time to take down the tree and get back to work (lots to do).

So normal working hours are back in place in Ardfallen Estate: there will always be someone here 9-10am and 2-3pm.  Outside those times either myself or Lucy will be in the office unless we need to be somewhere else.

If you need to call in outside the core opening hours that’s normally OK but it’s best to phone or text to check that someone is here.  I take appointments outside these times including lunchtimes, early evening and weekends (subject to other commitments).

But if you’re passing and the door is open feel free to call in.  Conversely there are (a very few) days when I can’t keep the core hours (I can’t break away from a wedding to open the office for an hour for instance) so if you find the door closed when it shouldn’t be then just give me a call to make an appointment.

€30 Christmas Vouchers Now Available

Following the success of previous year’s Kris Kringle vouchers we’re making them available again this Christmas.

These are limited availability vouchers that give the gift of a full family session and a 5×7 print for just €30.

We’ve found that people coming back to us with these vouchers were all delighted to receive them – often they were thinking about getting a family session done but hadn’t gotten around to making the booking.

Our family sessions are unique, they are designed to be relaxed and fun and the images that come out are the gift that lasts a lifetime – so why not give the gift of bit of magic for Christmas.

Halloween Dress Up for Crumlin 2012

Friday 26th October, 11 to 3pm

We’ll be holding our Halloween Dress Up for Crumlin again this year next Friday 26th October.

Kids can come into the Gallery in Halloween Dress Up and get a Free Photo in our Festive Den.

We had a great time last year and we raised over €500 for Children’s Charities.  So this year we’re hoping to go even better with more kids getting to come in and experience the Den and hopefully as much raised again for Crumlin Children’s Hospital and the Ronald McDonald House.

We’ll be opening up around 11pm on Friday the 26th and we’re hoping that since it’s the last school day before Halloween there’ll be lots of kids in frightfully good costumes wandering the streets of Douglas.  They can come in and get their photo taken in the Den we’ll give them a free print.

If you weren’t here last year and you’re wondering what it’s all about, take a look at the gallery on Facebook for more of what we did last year.

Autumn Forest Photo Session Deal for Mid-Term

To celebrate the October Mid-Term we’re offering Forest Sessions for €50 (includes one 8×12 print).

Family Photographer Cork
Autumn Photo Sessions this October

Now is your chance to get that family session in the woods done while there’s plenty of colour left out there.

You’ll pay just €50 for the session (normally €80) in a location somewhere in the Cork area.  The price includes one 8×12 print in a ready-to-frame mount.

You’ll then be invited back to the Gallery in Douglas the following week to go through your pictures and choose how to display them at home.

These sessions always provide a wide range of great pictures and many families choose to put together a Storyboard with their images.  So we’re also offering a €50 discount on Storyboard orders taken from the 2012 October Mid-Term Sessions.

The offer is only valid for the October break: from October 27th to November 9th.  There is limited availability so call us now to book your session: 021 429 3714

Shooting Textiles in Bishopstown

Textile Photographer Cork
Ready for action

Thanks to all the members of Cork Textile Network who brought their work to Bishopstown Library on Saturday for photographs.  It’s great to see the wealth of creativity and craft that is brought to me every year for photographs.

The CTN Members are preparing for their annual exhibition in the School of Music coming soon.

And look out for CTN Member, Mary Palmer who is opening an exbibition of quilted pieces in Bishopstown Library later this week.

Good luck to you all and I look forward to seeing your work on display.

Children and Gastropods

I had a vision of what I wanted.  It was a lovely idea for an image for a publicity thing: boy playing with snail.

It was intended to epitomise everything that is great about how I work with kids: let them play and take photographs that capture the joy of their age.  The feeling of boundless discovery, imaginative play, intensely thoughtful moments, living in the now.

Simple, right?  So what do we need?  Boy – check.  Snail….  OK, get the Boy to find the Snail.  Who better? Easy.

Off he goes down the garden and finds two (apparently he knew they were there cos his sister found them) – we choose the biggest.

So what next? Set up the scene. Put the Snail on the nice rustic (aka rotten) wooden table and let the Boy ‘discover’ the Snail.

Only the Snail is having none of it.  The Boy is happy for a bit chatting to the snail and waiting for it to show itself.  But the Snail is safely tucked away in his shell and has no intention of playing along.  No matter how much he sings to it.

So he gets fed up (actually we both do) and we go off and find some leaves, a strawberry and some blackberries and hope that the the Snail just needs ‘a little more time’.

But my primadonna Snail is still not playing along. It’s getting dark and tea is ready. Doesn’t this guy know we’re on a schedule!

Going to bed he’s still there unmoved but by morning he’s gone.  Let’s hope the Song Thrushes didn’t get him.

And you thought it was hard to work with kids!

Normal Opening Hours

The Boys are Back

With the kids back to school we’re returning to our normal office hours at the Gallery.

The Gallery is open 9-10am Mon-Thur and 2-3pm Mon-Fri.

Generally there is someone here during the most of the day but inevitably I have to leave to office to go to appointments and meetings during the day.  I try to arrange my work so that I’m always here during the times above so that if you need to find me I’ll be here.  It’s quite likely I’ll be here at other times during the day – it’s sometimes worth giving me a quick call if you’re thinking of calling outside those times.

But if you’re passing anytime and the door is open then feel free to call in.
