Thank You

I just wanted to post a quick ‘thank you’ to everyone who I photographed during Communion Season.

Well done to everyone involved, kids, parents, teachers, clergy and extended families.  It’s such an amazingly positive time to be taking photographs!

It was the busiest year yet for me and I’m still working through last week’s images to make them available for viewings.

As usual, there are lots of really nice pictures coming from the Communions this year.  I’ll post some images here soon once I’ve been through them and OK’ed them with the families concerned.

Mondays in May

First Holy Communion Season is upon us again.  Having been through it myself last year I think I’ve an even greater appreciation of what it means.  It’s a real milestone and a precious time for families.

This year with the availability of the Gallery we’re doing a mixture of short studio-style sessions at the Gallery on Saturdays and the more usual home sessions before Mass and at other times around the weekend.

I am already very busy for most of the weekends but there is some availability – please call to check your date.

But because I’m going to be working through the Saturday and Sunday over the next few weeks, the Gallery will not be open on Monday throughout May.  Depending on my workload for the rest of the week (including processing the weekend pictures) it may be possible to arrange a session on a Monday if that’s the only day that works for you. Again, please call in or give me a buzz and we can arrange something.

Normal opening times will be resumed in June.

Gallery Launch Event

Last Tuesday saw the official Launch of the Gallery with special Guest of Honour (and neighbour) Sean O Se saying (and singing) a few words to celebrate the opening.

Sean O Se Opens sings our praise

Sean was in fine form and a hard act to follow but the Small Fella did his best with the Ribbon Cutting

Small Kids and Scissors!

We were blessed with the company of good friends and fine weather (and yes it was our kids who were chalking on the path outside!).

We’ll have to find another excuse to get everyone together soon!

Photographing Kids at Play

It’s nice to get a surprise sometimes.  As I dropped the kids in to school one morning I was greeted by one of my own images on a Poster on the wall.

Pre-school kids hard at work

I took this picture as part of a project for Cork City Childcare some time ago.  The aim was to produce a series of posters and other Artwork but until now I’d not seen any of the final pieces.

It still has to be one of the most challenging and enjoyable jobs I’ve done.  Challenging because it was completely candid – no set-ups, no lighting, just capturing the kids at free play.  And enjoyable because it was just that:  kids at free play.  A lot of great kids having a great time just being kids.

It’s still a good feeling to see your work in a public context – especially when you least expect it!

Windows 3

OK, anyone know who left three small, double-glazed windows outside the Gallery door this morning?

Someone may have heard that I’m in the market for a new PC but I need Windows 7 not 3 Windows!

Is this some kind of Godfather-style message: ‘it’s windows for you my lad’?

Time Out

Due to a family Birthday, the Gallery will be closed today, Friday 4th March. I have a Pirate Party to attend.

Also, I’ll be away at a Trade Event in the UK Tuesday and Wednesday next week so I won’t be at the Gallery then either.

As usual I’ll be available on the mobile for anything urgent – or just drop me an email and I’ll get back to you when I’m back in the office.

Have a great weekend!

Welcome Inside the Gallery

I thought I’d better take the promised interior shot of the Gallery before the Christmas Tree went down:

It looks like the stitching software had a few problems with the extreme wideangle required to fit everything in but hopefully you get the picture.

If the flash isn’t working for you, you can download a jpeg version of the image here.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to everyone.  I hope you all have a peaceful and restful holiday.

Closed for the Holidays

The Gallery will close on Christmas Eve and re-open on 3rd January.  So anyone who wants to take advantage of the Gallery Opening Gift Voucher Offer and get a last minute Christmas gift needs to call in today or tomorrow to get one.

I am around Cork for the holidays and taking a few bookings between Christmas and New Year so if you need anything urgent do call the mobile: 087 683 8511.  If I’m not available please leave a message and I’ll get back to you.

The Gift Voucher Offer will continue in January so if someone springs an unexpected present on you, you can still get a voucher in return!

Have a great one…

Family Photography Gift Vouchers for €30 this Christmas

To celebrate the opening of the Gallery, I am pleased to announce a special limited availability Gift Voucher.

The Voucher costs €30 and gives you a full family portrait session, a viewing session and a 5×7 print. The session has to be taken before 31st March, 2011.

This is a great deal and the Vouchers make ideal gifts for Christmas.  So if you know someone who is long overdue a family portrait then this is the gift for them.

As usual the Portrait Sessions will take place in the family home (or outside if it’s warm enough).  It’s a normal session so it can cover a large family group or just some pictures of the kids – or both.

You’ll then be invited back to the Gallery to see you pictures and select your complimentary print.  You’ll be able to order more prints or other products at normal prices (although of course you’re under no obligation to do so).   There are a range of new products on show in the Gallery.

The normal terms and conditions apply but there are few additional things to note about these vouchers:

  • This offer applies to sessions taken before 31st March 2011.  The voucher cannot be used for a session after this date.
  • You can only view your images at the arranged view session: no on-line galleries will be provided with this promotion.
  • Travel to a location within an hour of the Gallery is included in the promotional price.

Note that if you don’t think the time limit on this voucher suits the person you’re buying for then you can purchase standard gift vouchers (which have no expiry) from €80.

Progress

I’m way behind on the blog posts.  The Gallery is in really good shape now and nearly – very nearly – ready for ‘officially open’.

I’ve been working here full-time for the past week or so and it’s really nice to have somewhere dedicated to my work.

So watch this space – there’s a Very Special Offer going with the opening (anyone who has passed by has already had a sneak preview).
